Immoral Matriarch started this innocent little “Interview Me” shenanigan party awhile ago and over the past week I have seen several of my bloggity friends running around interviewing each other. I have been slinking through their posts trying to stay under the radar….until I came to my sugarbabydarling Devyl’s post. I cast fear aside and said, “What the hell, bring it on baby!” She did.

1. Other than losing someone you love (or seeing someone you love get hurt) or dying before you have completed your life’s missions … what is your biggest fear? Losing DigitalRob and LW or leaving them are my biggest fears, of course.  Aside from that, my biggest fear is failing to live up to the expectations of the people I care about.  I am horrified at the thought of disappointing my family. I always have been and I’m not sure where my need to succeed in order to make sure other people weren’t let down by my failures.
2. Scenario: You are told you will die in the next 30 days. What do you do? What is the most pressing wisdom you think you can pass on to your lil guy? How do you help DigitalRob prepare? This is my second biggest fear. I would quit my job and spend the next 30 days making sure my life was in order.  I would spend as much time as possible with LW and DigitalRob. I would write out birthday cards for the people I loved for the next 20 years, I would videotape myself reading books for LW to watch, I would catch up on my scrapbooks. The most pressing piece of wisdom I could pass on to LW is “follow your bliss.”
3. Create a soundtrack for your life: which 16 songs do you choose, and why?

  1. I Can See Clearly Now – Jimmy Cliff When I was little (6 or 7) I had a compilation record that I think was called Good Vibrations. This song was my favorite song on the whole album. I played it over and over millions of times. I’m not sure if I lost it or if it broke, but I don’t remember having it by the time I was 10….cut to a dozen years later. I’m driving down the highway, totally stressed out by life and on the verge of tears. I start flicking stations and BOOM this song comes on. The sense of calm that rushed through my entire body is indescribable.  I hadn’t heard that song for years until that moment.  It still has the power to make everything ok for me.
  2. Blessed by Elton John because I am
  3. Fighter by Christina Aguilera – words to live by
  4. Fallen by Sarah McLachlan – I have fallen many, many times
  5. To Get Me To You by Lila McCann – Sometimes you have to go through a lot of shit to get to what’s worthwhile in life
  6. I Danced by the Violent Femmes – it’s all in the lyrics….
  7. Don’t Stop the Music by Rhianna – no matter what, I can always dance
  8. When I Grow Up by the Pussycat Dolls – because I am fucking fabulous
  9. If You Love Somebody Set Them Free by Sting – we have all loved and lost
  10. Touch-a Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me from the Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack – *grins*
  11. Most Beautiful Girl by Charlie Rich – my dad used to sing this song every morning on his way to the shower.  I always got a head pat or a wink as he walked by
  12. Save Yourself by Stabbing Westward – I’ve often felt like I can’t even save myself, don’t expect me to save you too
  13. Whenever, Wherever by Shakira – because I have been young and desperately frantically in love
  14. Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden – It was DigitalRob and my wedding song (aaaaawwwwww)
  15. Dance Love Work by Louie Louie – Dance like nobody’s watching, love like you’ve never been hurt, work like you don’t need the money
  16. Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra – it should be on everybody’s soundtrack
  17. BONUS TRACK – Keeps Getting Better by Christina Aguilera – because my fucking fabulosity just keeps on growing!

4. How do you define “relaxation?” Me, alone, comfy clothes, a good book or two, the couch, a warm blanket, popcorn and an endless supply of diet coke from the fountain.

5. Choose whether to give me fantasy or reality. Describe ten minutes of purely erotic, completely sensual, perfectly delectable …. something. Here’s the thing about fantasies for me….that’s where I want them to stay. No matter how exciting, erotic or amazing a fantasy is, I have never had any desire for it to leave my head and travel into my real world because I am always afraid it won’t be as good in real life and then I’ll be all pissy about it.  But on a realistic sensual turn when I only have 10 minutes? Five words –  nekkid, oil, full body massage – done in dim lights with a little John Legend on the radio…hopefully it will lead to a lot more than 10 minutes!

So how about it readers? Will you let me play Barbara Walters?

Want to be part of it? Follow these instructions:

1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

I am drawing a blank folks. I’m not sure why I can’t come up with a post today. Maybe I’m too tired. Maybe it’s a wee bit of ADD kicking in. Either way, I can’t seem to concentrate on anything for more than a few minutes because I keep having weird random thoughts pop up in my head – at 2:30 in the morning! What, pray tell, do I think of when I can’t sleep? What riveting thoughts keep me from the land of nod? Here are a few from last night….

  • How many more days until my trip to Phoenix?
  • I wonder where I put my tapestry needles
  • Did I put my leftover pasta back in the fridge before I put LW to bed?
  • Why is this dog laying on my foot?
  • Provolone is a good cheese for sandwiches, but I love brie the most
  • I think I’l look at Disneyland.com tomorrow and start planning our trips.
  • Did I attach the book light to LW’s bookmark or is it floating around his bed somewhere?
  • Should I get my hair trimmed at the Hair Goddess on Saturday or just colored?
  • Will the vibrating hairbrush really make my hair grow or is it just jiggling my hair around….

Hmm……maybe I need therapy…..that’s all that is leaking out of my brain today…..

Furry little fuckers.

If you have children between the ages of fetus and fifth grade, you have probably had an encounter with the cute fuzzy little guys with the rainbow “W” embroidered on their paws. We haven’t just met them in passing, they are invading our lives! LW looooooooves these things and the magical allure of their website. At last count he 18 of the little fluff balls and would happily spend hours organizing their stuff and feeding them on their specially designed website if we let him.

The problem with Webkinz is not their cute fuzziness, nor is it the need to collect every last one f the little suckers. It’s the games on the website. I am addicted to the games.

Yep. I said it. I cannot get enough of the games on Webkinz.com. I have lured LW in so we can play Zacky’s Quest for hunt for jewels in the mines. I have been known to log in after LW goes to sleep just to practice my mad skillz on Hungry Hog. Oy. They need something like this for adults….wait, they have it. It’s called Facebook!

Excuse me while I go read, watch a movie, fold laundry oh fine! I’m going to play Ant Mania! WHEEEEEEE!

Anyone who says they have only one life to live

must not know how to read a book.

~ Author Unknown

I love to read.  Anyone who has known me for more than a nanosecond knows that books make me happy. When asked the question, “What do you read?” My answer is often “Everything.” I’m not kidding. I read it all.  Mystery/Thrillers, Chick Lit, SciFi/Fantasy, Young Adult, Non-fiction, there is nothing I will say no to reading.  I have oodles of books sitting on my shelf waiting to have their spines cracked.  In fact, I cleaned and organized my to be read piles the other day and counted.  I currently have 127 books sitting on the shelves in the bedroom anxious to have their pages turned and more will be added at the end of January when I head to Phoenix with Mamacita.  Phoenix means Bookman’s, my very favorite used book store ever!  I always have a few things to turn in, but love grabbing a basket and strolling around with my Amazon wish list (which currently has 497 books on it) in hand and selecting a dozen or more new books to take home to add to my collection.

That said, I have limited time to read for pleasure. I work full time, I have a family and I am currently taking classes through an online university working to finish my Bachelor’s Degree, to be followed immediately by my Master’s Degree.  I have a LOT of reading to do for my professional and school lives, not to mention the dozens of stories that are read to LW each week, so at the end of the day if I can manage to read five pages before falling into a coma, I consider that a success but it makes me a little sad.

Before I was a mom and before I decided to go back to school I read all the time. I would check 15 books out of the library in one fell swoop and have them finished before the three week loan period was up.  It was not uncommon for me to read upwards of 150 books in a year and I miss those days.  I need to get back to reading for me.  I am in the middle of my second annual 50 Books in a Year Challenge that was started by a fellow Newsvine subscriber.  His first challenge went from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.  I finished all fifty of my selected books, but it wasn’t easy with the rest of my hurricane like life swirling around me.

I decided to do the challenge again this year and have fallen waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind. I need to catch up!   That means books go back into my purse to be read at lunch, books into the bathroom for soaks in the tub, books into the living room to be read while LW watches a cartoon or plays Wii. I will read, I will finish my 50 books again this year!

I want to live in a house filled with floor to ceiling bookshelves, covered not with knick knacks and tchotchkes, but books – thousands and thousands of books!  So far we have eighteen feet of bookshelves running along our entryway, and yes we do refer to it as the library. See?

I couldn’t quite fit the whole thing in, but you get the picture!  It has two big leather mission style chairs that are perfect for curling up with whatever you may pull off the shelf!  We also have books in every nook and cranny in our bedroom, our den and there are a few boxes of them in the garage.  I love my library and it’s beautiful shelves. I want to have dozens more of these shelves, we have the books, we just don’t have the wall space right now, but someday…….

*Drool* I would sweep all of the funky little statues off the shelves and cram them full of books. Then I would pick one at random, plop down in one of those comfy chairs and lose myself in the power of a story……..

How much do you like to read?

And Away We Go!

January 1, 2009. I woke up this morning and realized that I had made a comment to myself in a moment of madness last week. I signed up for Blog365. No biggie, I thought to myself. I blog almost every day anyway. Then panic set in. What will I write about? Will people read it? Oh my God, what have I done?

Then I took a deep breath, had a couple of cocktails and realized that I am, in the words of my divine Cajun Vegan, fucking fabulous. So much so that I intend to have that bedazzled in rhinestones on a black baby tee one day so I can walk around with my fabulosity emblazoned across my boobalahs. Because I am fucking fabulous and also a geekdorknerdgirl to the nth degree, I made a spreadsheet – helllloooooo? OCD? Yep there you are.  Here’s a little taste of what you might get to see here over the next threehundredandsixtyfivedays.

  1. The return of MeMe Monday
  2. Simply Kind Tuesday
  3. Wordless/Wordy/Wishes Wednesday – Depends on what I feel like that week
  4. Thursday Thirteen – the site might be down, but I am going to try to continue my lists

The rest of it? Who knows, but here’s a sampling of what might fly off my keyboard….

  • I am now a pescetarian
  • Three bathrooms in my house, but I can only use one….
  • I am a knitter
  • Disneyland a gogo
  • My 10 year work anniversary and my 10 year wedding anniversary are both this year, that should make for good fodder.

What else do you want to know? Bring it on and I’ll add it to my list! Hang on because it’s bound to be a bumpy roller coaster ride filled with loop-de-loops and twists!

Thanks to Natalie Dee  for my new favorite comic! That’s her stuff on the top of the page….
