Merry Christmas Thursday Thirteeners! Obviously, they are a ll a wee bit out of my budget, but you never know what Santa might bring. Hey, a girl can dream can’t she?  And I’ve been VERY good this year!

Ugh. I’m supposed to be on vacation.  Due to last week’s snow day, I am going in today for the meetings I had to reschedule. This is making me VERY crabby, so kindness….well, it’s not coming easy today. However, in the spirit of the holidays, I will make the utmost attempt to be kind by doing the following:

I will not snap at participants who can’t grasp the most basic concepts.

I will not kick the shins of people who ask me to do “one more thing” before I leave the office today.

I will return every single message that has been left for me since last Thursday.

I will not race through my meetings just so I can get the hell out of there and come home.

I will not roll my eyes and sigh heavily when I walk in the house and see the back of Cartman’s head peeking over the couch. Every.Fucking.Day.

I will try very, very hard to take a deep breath and count to 5, 10, 100 before responding when Mamacita once again justifies Cartman’s behavior and how I should “cut him a little slack.” Again, Every.Fucking.Day. Sometimes twice!

Whew! That’s a hefty list for this time of year, but I’ll leave you with a little holiday funny for the road!

I needed a Christmas Meme and couldn’t find one, but lo and behold my girl Topsurf came through. If you are not already a regular reader of hers, you should be!
As soon as I saw this I was all select all, copy, paste! So here you have it the Merry Christmas Meme!

Have you ever…..

Built a snowman? Millions of times

Heard Santa’s sleigh? Every year

Seen Santa & Rudolph in the sky?
Yes. We used to have a neighbor who put a giant sleigh and reindeer up on stakes about 15 feet above his roofline. It was awesome!

Sat on Santa’s lap? Yes, many neat Santas, and one creepy Santa when I was a teenager

Shoveled the driveway/sidewalk? For eleven years when we lived in Utah

Made snow angels? Many, many choirs of angels

Built a fort/igloo? Every winter

Wrote a Christmas list? Mm-hmmm, complete with UPC codes one year!

Wrote a letter to Santa? With pictures so there would be no misunderstandings

Left cookies/milk for Santa & reindeer? We leave cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer on these special plates.

Caught a snowflake on your tongue
? Yes. Mmmmm…crunchy!

Went caroling? Once, I hated it.

Got hurt during the winter season? I grew up on skis and had no sense of fear, what do you think?

Gone ice skating/sledding? Yes and Yes, we used to make a great track on the hill in our backyard.

Kissed under a mistletoe? Yes

Experienced/saw a miracle happen?
If you believe, they will happen. Yes.

Get everything you wanted for Christmas? Yes, even the year that NOBODY could get a Cabbage Patch Kid, I got Fanya Adella (I still have her.)

Cooked/baked? Like a mad woman!

One or the Other…

Tree is fake/real? Real until three years ago, now fake. I miss having a real tree.

Tree is under/above 4′? Over – ours is 7 feet

Open presents Christmas Eve/Day? Both – we do presents at Mamacita’s on Christmas Eve and have Christmas morning at our house

House/entire yard is decorated? Yes and no. Behold the Santa shelves!

Amount of presents under the tree? By the time all is said and done for all relatives we see? About forty.

Snowman is a male/female? It’s unclear, ours always have sort of a “Ken” doll appearance.

Go for Santa/Jesus? It’s Jesus’ birthday, Santa is just a nice extra.

Homemade/delivered/takeout Christmas dinner? Always homemade.

Bedtime is before/after midnight? Hopefully before midnight, LW will be up early.

Wake-up is before/after 7am? LW is up early, so probably around 6:30
.

Go/don’t go to church on Christmas? We will be attending Christmas Eve churchitude.

Pray & sing Happy Birthday/do nothing before bed?
LW and I say prayers every night at bedtime.

Do shopping before/after Thanksgiving? A tiny bit before, most of it in one fell swoop after Thanksgiving

Low-key/over the top decorations (inside and out)? Tons and tons! Our house is full of the Holiday spirit – but not in a tacky way!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!

Last night was LW’s school Christmas pageant. No politically correct holiday pageantry here folks, it’s a private Christian school and you’re getting your Nativity players whether you like it or not!  LW has been talking about the pageant for weeks. He walks around the house belting out Christmas carols as if the people two counties over need to hear him. He was ready!

We know, from prior performances, that LW is not the star of the show. He is actually quite shy – I know it’s hard to believe – and usually mumbles his way through the songs, but he always sings. So imagine our surprise when his teacher said to us, “If he cries, do you want me to rescue him?” Um, what? Apparently, he has cried at all but the last two practices and she has taken him off stage to calm down.

*blink*

*blink*

WTFBBQ? Are you serious? He has never mentioned this to us! Of course I said “Yes! Rescue him if he needs it!” Then I spent the next 20 minutes working myself into a panic about my little pumpkin noodle crying onstage. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKK!

All for naught. The minute they stepped on stage, kazoos firmly planted between lips, he was fine.  He sang, he yawned, he even clapped along (sort of.) At the end of the program, we all went down to the basement of the church for cookies and coffee.  This is our little trooper post performance.

See that string around his neck? That’s his kazoo. All the kids got to take them home last night. Two weeks of no school and nothing to do but play the kazoo. I think I want my present back.

Here’s a little taste of what we heard…. Gloria (stealthily recorded while he was in the bathroom singing his little heart out!)
