While living in Georgia, my friend (who was originally from South Dakota) and I came up with “hoop skirt personal space zone.” We would tell close talking spazatrons, “Imagine, if you willl, that I am wearing a Scarlet O’Hara hoop skirt. Please. DO NOT ENTER THE ZONE UNINVITED!! ”

I really have an issue with that. I back up, lean back, etc… to escape someone invading my hoop skirt zone.

My sister is more like that about her personal space than I am. The only time it really gives me the heebs is during flu season and with smelly people. I’ll try not to get too close.

I cannot stand when someone stands behind me when I am sitting, or peers over my shoulder to see what I am doing. I do not have issues with personal space – I am a fairly touchy-feely person .. but when I say back up, I mean NAO … my poor Tween usually gets snapped at because she’s not quick enough when she’s in a cuddly mood. I am so damn awful about it!
