One should eat to live, not live to eat.

Who starts a new non-diet when they are going on vacation? That is just plain crazy with a capital C-R-A-Z-Y. I did. I started the new non-diet (because I refuse to diet) on Monday knowing that I was leaving Thursday to visit with my food loving family for four days.
What.was.I.thinking? Good question, but I must have done something right because as of today folks I am down 2.5 pounds!!!!
I don’t think I shared my weight loss goal with you last week – I WILL NOT be revealing my starting weight as I am extremely vain and I can not bring myself to say the number out loud. My goal at the beginning of this lovely saga was to lose 60 pounds, 60 large, fatty pounds. 2.5 down, 57.5 to go!!!
How did I accomplish this weight loss while on vacation? Certainly not with exercise. Besides being food lovahs, my family has a very intimate relationship with a circle of chairs and a few bottles of wine. We drink, we talk, we tell stories we have all heard 100 times. (Remind me to tell you the one about Mr. Peabody Mudslide.)
What I did not do was snack. We kept busy enough that I avoided munching between meals. At dinner, I ate salads with seared tuna or filled my plate with veggies before I added the pasta. You see, I will not diet, I love food too much.
I hope you all had great weeks too! On a final note, here’s the non-diet tip of the week:
Make eating purposeful, not mindless. Whenever you put food in your mouth,
peel it, unwrap it, plate it, and sit. Engage all of the senses
in the pleasure of nourishing your body.
Next week: Let’s get physical!

GOOOO YOU! It’s got to feel GREAT to manage it while on vacation! Nicely done girlie!
Excellent! I’m so happy for you!
I’m on that journey too …
YAY! Congrats!
I’ve noticed that I’ve not snacked nearly as badly as I used to, since I started knitting. I take it in front of the tv when I sit down to watch football. Even if my husband tempts me, I won’t touch it because I don’t want grease from chips to get on my yarn !
Congrats! That is impressive. I find it nearly impossible not to snack on vacation.
Although I don’t usually have too much trouble in Vegas– because I’d rather gamble than eat!
I’ll see you in a few days!
Congratulations on the attitude. That is the only way to lose and stay down, to just change things a little bit. Good work.
Awesome! Congratulations!
