Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun.

My friend, Miss Attitude, was reminiscing about a time long ago when she worked at Subway the other day. That started a huge Plurk thread about terrible jobs people have held. I started writing mine down and surprise – I have had far more than 13 jobs, not all were lousy, but they paved the way for my current career which just so happens to be a job that may end up on my “lousy jobs” list sometime soon!
- Timeshare condo maid – I don’t like to clean my own bathrooms and I spent 2 years in high school cleaning up after other people!
- Daycare teacher – I’m not super fond of three year olds in herds
- Nanny – LOVED this job! My family was awesome!
- Telemarketing firm receptionist – There’s nothing like answering the phone and talking to angry people who think they got ripped off on their vitamin purchase!
- Potpourri basket maker – Achoo!
- County fair – I sold supplies to other fair vendors for their food booths – cups, napkins, etc.
- CNA in a nursing home – I did this with a friend, it made me sad every day.
- Express – I lasted two whole days
- JC Penney during the holidays – I hate retail!
- Special events waitress at a country club
- Waitress at Training Table
- Lifeguard at a water park – Aaahhhh, the days of baby oil in lieu of sunscreen and lemon juice to increase highlights!
- Receptionist for a wholesale foods distributor
How many bad jobs have you had? Happy Thursday Thirteen!

I love your post.. thanks for the blog love! Mine will actually appear on Saturday so you’ll have to wait.. he he.. because I had to do a little more Rays action today;)
I will tell you I feel your pain on some of these, but not sure about the county fair.. you weren’t any where near the pigs were you??
My first job was at Toys R Us.
During the Christmas season.
In the middle of the Barney/Power Ranger craze.
It’s a miracle I’m still around after that place, it was insanity in there. On Christmas eve the management locked the doors so staff couldn’t leave, and several of the employees retaliated by lynching a Barney plushy.
Hmmm. I am going to have to think on this one. Do I count my stint with the temp agency as one job or many?
there’s no such things a lousy job as long as its a decent job.:)
thanks for visiting my TT.
Some bad jobs in there. I’m lucky I’ve never worked as a waitperson or in retail. My best job was either the library or as the radio dj. Happy TT!
Actually, the county fair supplier sounds like it would be fun to do.
Thanks for the visit and cool comment!!!
Penney’s during the holidays? Did you qualify for combat pay? I liked being the weekend receptionist at a real estate office. That was the favorite of my “long ago and far away” jobs. Just the right balance of activity and quiet time. (Thanks for visiting my TT)
Wow, what a variety of jobs and experiences! This list was great fun to read.
I have yet to find a GOOD job. My first job was at 14. I worked at McDonald’s until I was old enough to get another job. That began my long “career” through retail and retail management through the mid high-school years.
My favorite unpaid jobs: Junior Achievement teacher at Martin Luther King Elementary in Oakland, CA and Karate Instructor at Concord Park & Recs, Lafayette Park & Recs, Mare Island Naval Station, Treasure Island Naval Station and Hamilton Air Force Base (I taught 5 classes a week at 5 locations throughout the Bay Area)
